Do you have chipped or cracked teeth?

Dr. Vincent Prestipino and Dr. Tassos Sfondouris offer teeth bonding to patients in Bethesda, Maryland. Teeth bonding is a quick way for patients to fix chipped, cracked, and stained teeth. This cosmetic option uses a resin composite material that is used to bond to teeth can last for years after proper dental care. Teeth bonding can even be used to cover slight tooth misalignment and gaps between teeth. The resin material used in dental bonding treatment is color-matched to teeth and can be shaped to match the form of real teeth. Learn about the dental bonding process below.

The Dental Bonding Process

Before treatment, we will assess your teeth and gums to determine if teeth bonding is the right cosmetic treatment for you. We will also review your budget, health records, and personal oral health goals. The dental bonding treatment process begins when we prepare the teeth for the bonding material. This is done by removing a small portion of the tooth structure. Then, we will color match the composite resin material to your natural teeth. We can also lighten them by multiple shades. The resin is sculpted onto the desired tooth, molded, and shaped. We will ensure that the bite is even before using a UV light to harden and set the bonding material. After the tooth is bonded, it is polished.

To ensure the best results, avoid teeth-staining foods and beverages for at least 48 hours following your bonding treatment. You can brush and floss your teeth normally. Avoid biting your nails or chewing on hard food objects as this can damage your teeth.
